Access Statement
This access statement does not contain personal opinions as to our suitability for those with access needs, but aims to accurately describe the facilities and services that we offer all our guests/visitors.
Introduction
Stoneleigh Barn is located 2 miles outside the Dorset town of Sherborne, we offer two recently refurbished principal rooms - both with large en-suite bathrooms (both rooms also cater for families of two adults and two children).
Whilst we aim to meet the needs of all our guests there are some features of the accommodation which might make access difficult for people with limited mobility.

Sherborne railway station is a 5-minute drive / taxi journey away, connecting with London Waterloo. Taxis are usually available at Sherborne station but we can book one for you in advance if required.
Car Parking and Arrival
We have an off-street carpark with security lighting in front of the Barn. Entry is via the Porch Double Door and a 10” step then the Front Door which is 33″ wide and a further 4” step.
We ask that guests using the carpark position their cars in a way that allows other vehicles to enter and exit freely.
Bedrooms & Bathrooms
Two principal guest rooms are located on the lower floor, the Blue Room is heated by underfloor heating whilst the Red Room is heated by a radiator linked to Stoneleigh Barn’s Central Heating System
There are automatic audible smoke alarms in all rooms.
Please note that Stoneleigh Barn cannot offer Bed and Breakfast on a full DDA compliancy basis however the Red Room is accessible from the carpark via a wheel chair ramp and a 27” door with a 5” step. Breakfast in the room can be provided on request should a Guest be unable to use the stairs to access the Conservatory.
Blue Room (Large Double)
The Blue Room door is 30″ wide, seating is available inside the room and the Day Bed can double-up as a Child’s bed.
The en-suite bathroom’s door is 29” wide has a toilet which is 16″ in height. There is a walk-in shower cubicle and a bath, a non-slip bath mat is available on request.
There is also an “under-bed” located under the Day Bed which can be utilised as a second Child’s bed.
Please note there is a supplemental charge for each additional bed used.
Red Room (Large Double)
The Red Room door is 30″ wide, seating is available inside the room and the Day Bed can double-up as a Child’s bed.

Breakfast Room / Conservatory and Garden
The Breakfast Room is on the middle floor and accessed vis the staircase, the door is 29″ wide. Seating is available in the breakfast room in upright chairs, there are also two small Children’s high chairs available on request, the area is well lit with overhead lighting.
Access to the garden is via the double doors and three steps.
There is additional step-free access to the Garden via a large door from the adjoining lane
Additional Information
There are ‘In Case of Fire’ instructions posted on the back of the guest room doors.
Free wifi is available in all rooms and no password is required however North Wootton is waiting for a BT network upgrade so Broadband speeds are low (1 – 3 mps)
We try to cater for special diets or particular likes or dislikes, however we cannot guarantee our kitchen to be entirely free of nut contamination. Please advise us before your arrival of any dietary requirements you may have. We can refrigerate prescription medication and additionally store any perishable food in our fridge for a limited period. Mobile phone reception is generally good although Guests with Vodafone will experience some difficulty until a Signal Booster is installed.
